Macro Photo Trip II: The Album

Some of the good shots taken during the trip.

I realized that without a remote flash, it is difficult to get a steady, sharp and well lit shot. Focus is difficult owing to the ultra shallow depth of field in macro photography, the generally dark condition in the forest makes life more miserable.

Macro Photo Trip I: The Journey

I was lucky to have caught this trip. If not because of K Ton, my colleague who is a photography fans like me that has followed every single news in the popular website thaidphoto.com. The fact was within few days after it opens for registration, the 25 tickets were fully booked for an outing to Jed-Kod Waterfall Research Center (ศูนย์ศึกษาธรรมชาติและท่องเที่ยวเชิงนิเวศเจ็ดคด-โป่งก้อนเส้า), Saraburi Province, about 120 KM from Bangkok.

Macro photography is dealing with everything tiny. It needs a lot skills, patience, passions and some special gears. The lucky part is you don't have to go far to take good macro photos, everything in your home backyard can become interesting under the "microscope". The subject can be virtually everything; a small bug, a tiny mushroom, a line of marching ants or even just a most common water droplet.

Equipped with my Canon 100 mm F/2.8 Macro, flash and a sturdy tripod, I started my first serious trial of macro photography despite I have owned the macro lens for some times.

Half of the people are from the strong crews of thaiDphoto.com.

The weather wasn't helping, it started to rain when we step in to the forest.

Thus it is always true for macro photography, you would need a buddy...
